Culture and Mindset for Excellence

Introduction to The Culture of Excellence Program

What is a great culture? Why is it so important? What is your role and responsibility as a leader in your organization to develop a culture of excellence?

Corporate Culture Is the Operating System of Your Business

Think of corporate culture as the operating system of your business. When your corporate culture is not optimized, your employees may appear to be professionally committed, but, in reality, they are not fully engaged, accountable or committed to excellence.
When you develop a culture of excellence, you build organizational capacity and a structure that empowers, focuses and engages employees. You cultivate a collective mindset that consistently delivers excellence through collaboration, innovation and purpose. Moreover, with a culture of excellence, organizations support their employees to develop the flexibility and resilience to deal with change, challenge and uncertainty.

Our 3-Phase Model for developing a Culture of Excellence:

Developing A Culture of Excellence in Your Organization

By implementing a three-phase process, you can start building a new culture of excellence, creating an organization where your employees feel empowered, inspired and motivated.

Phase 1: Mindset of Personal Leadership

The first step is to create a mindset that will engage and align every employee with your vision, mission and values, and leave them speaking a common language of excellence. You will build a new capacity for growth. Your employees will think in more creative and innovate ways, and will be better equipped to deal with challenges and change.
Mindset of Personal Leadership Overview:
In Phase 1, you will be exposed to two distinct mindsets: The Vertical Mindset and The Horizontal Mindset.
    • The Vertical Team Member focuses on creating, moving forward, and constantly looking for new ways of accelerating progress and advancing what is good for the whole team
    • The Horizontal Team Member, in comparison, is more focused on tasks, putting out fires, controlling their environment, and improving or maintaining their own status
    • In this phase, we will take a look at the relationship between the Vertical and Horizontal mindsets and see how each mindset influences your ability to build strong customer relationships and, ultimately, deliver excellence.
Some topics we will address during this phase include:
    • The difference between personal excellence and mediocrity.
    • How mindset impacts behaviour and performance.
    • The power of clarity and intention.
    • The 14 levels of awareness and how they shape our feelings, behaviour and outcomes.
    • The seven practical steps to creating personal leadership excellence.
    • Setting meaningful and inspiring goals.
    • Building more capacity in the team.
    • Aligning to a higher purpose and values at work.
    • Taking responsibility for performance excellence.
    • Breaking down limiting beliefs.
    • Shifting our outlook to achieve improved results.
    • Creating a high performance team.
Phase 1 Expected Results:
By developing the right mindset, your team members will become more confident, assertive, receptive and accountable—and will be able to deal with the challenges that come their way. They will be aligned to your organization’s vision, goals and values, which will in turn lead to higher levels of performance.
Some specific benefits you can expect to see at this stage include:
    1. Engaged team members who are aligned, focused and committed to your company’s vision.
    2. Increased self-confidence with greater courage to innovate and take action.
    3. A more cohesive team, with highly committed and loyal team members.
    4. A stronger focus on service and quality.
    5. Improved communication and cooperation.
    6. A big-picture perspective, focused on continuous growth and positive development.
    7. Higher levels of engagement, satisfaction and fulfillment at work.

Phase 2: Mindset for Collective Excellence

In Phase 2, we focus on building a Mindset for Collective Excellence that will align the entire organization with your business plan, vision, values and strategic objectives. This process ensures that each and every team member in the organization has a piece of the vision that they are responsible for and are aligned with. This plan includes specific action steps on what to focus on, how to achieve the goals and the ‘right mindset’ to stay focused on what really matters.
Mindset for Collective Excellence Overview:
In Phase 2, we will focus on developing a robust plan that begins by developing The Master Excellence Plan based on the organization’s Strategic Business Plan. This plan will then be cascaded to the rest of the organization level by level until all team members have a clear piece of their contribution to the overall plan and have taken responsibility for achieving it.
The structured process we will go through during this phase includes:
    1. How to develop The Master Excellence Plan.
    2. How to test and measure the success of the plan.
    3. How to roll out the plan to the rest of the organization.
    4. How to ensure that every team member is guided through their plan and assumes full responsibility for it’s achievement.
    5. How to test the process for ROI.
    6. How to measure the sustainability of the plan.
    7. How to ensure that the plan delivers the desired results.
Phase 2 Expected Results:
By developing a mindset for collective excellence, your team members will:
    1. Have more clarity on what is expected of them.
    2. Have a clear plan on how to achieve their goals.
    3. Be more collaborative.
    4. Be more Accountable.
    5. Be more Engaged.
    6. Be more committed to high performance.
    7. Achieve measureable improvements in performance.

Phase 3: Sustaining A Culture of Excellence

In Phase 3, we focus on Sustaining a Culture of Excellence that will consistently deliver superior performance over the long term.
When the first two phases are complete, and you have a strong collective mindset of excellence in place and alignment around performance goals, the next phase is to ensure that the collective mindset of excellence is cultivated and Excellence Plans are executed as planned.
Sustaining A Culture of Excellence Overview:
In this phase, we implement the Customized Culture of Excellence Sustainment Plan whereby, teams meet every two weeks for a period of 12-18 months to work on specific topics developed by Dynamic Achievement in consultation with the senior leadership team. The Accountability Cohort Groups are provided with specific agendas and topics for discussion for each meeting with guidance on how to effectively run these meetings for maximum growth and continued progress.
Our experience has shown us that Phase 3 is critical to the success of the entire program. The Culture of Excellence Sustainment program ensures that the Culture of Excellence Program continues to develop internally by all team members who have all become engaged and committed stakeholders.
